REAL TALK : it is harder than it looks for just being “steps”. Do not underestimate the climate 🥲especially coming from Florida.
Remember this…. ITS WORTH IT.
Wear light layers (you WILL get warm)
Bring water
10/10 recommend the hike down Barr trail, yes it’s longer but the views , trail , & ease on the knees is worth it 😂

This is the hardest hike I have ever done. I read online that you needed a reservation, but there was no one there to check reservations. I am glad I went early in the morning before it got to hot. Bring water and snacks and you can make it to the top. Take brakes when you feel you need to. No shame in taking a break. Celebrate when you get to the top .

It was definitely a humbling experience. Trail is hard. The kids did great on the trail. Hike down was long. But experience was great. Would definitely do it again. If you take a camelbak make sure to have a back up or extra water bottles for the hike back down.

It was very steep but lots of spots along the way to stop and rest. Lots of water and good sleep prior helped. The views were worth the effort I recommend going early in the morning and taking lots of water, also take your time is your best bet to make it to the top. I saw several people that looked in great shape struggling just the same as everyone else so just take it slow and enjoy it, my daughter and I loved it!! Great views.

I’ve hiked towering 13,000-foot peaks before, so when I saw that this climb was a mere 8,000 feet, I foolishly thought it would be a walk in the park. How wrong I was! This climb, I soon learned, is an entirely different beast. Instead of winding trails, you're faced with relentless, unforgiving steps—each one demanding that you lift your entire body weight. Step after step, the challenge becomes more brutal.
It only took about 400 steps for reality to hit me. This was not going to be the easy adventure I had anticipated. But there’s no turning back. So, I dug deep, pushed through the burn, and—finally—reached the summit. The feeling of triumph was incredible.
Would I do it again? Honestly, I’m not sure. But it was absolutely worth the effort for that one glorious ascent.
For the descent, I took the Barr Trail, which proved to be a beautiful, serene contrast to the grueling climb up.
Is it tough? Absolutely. Should you do it? Without a doubt. And if you can, make sure to start early and catch the sunrise—trust me, it’s an experience that defies description. The photos don’t even do it justice.
